Readobook

Privacy Policy

Readobook for Android (ru.readobook). Last updated 8 September 2026.

Readobook is a free reading app with built-in text-to-speech, made by one person. You can reach me at xmel01dev@yandex.com.

The app collects no personal data, stores none and sends none. That is not a promise on paper: the build declares no android.permission.INTERNET, so Readobook simply cannot send anything anywhere.

What ends up inside the app

All of this lives in your device's storage and never leaves it:

Uninstall the app and all of it goes with it. If you use Android system backup, it works under your Google or device maker account rules and has nothing to do with Readobook.

Permissions

Internet, location, microphone, camera, contacts, phone and calendar are never requested. The app holds no network permissions at all, not even reading the connection state.

About speech synthesis

The voice is computed on the phone by models bundled with the app: Silero for Russian, Piper for English. The text of your books goes neither to my servers (there are none) nor to anyone else's. No cloud synthesis is involved.

Third-party services

There are no ad networks, no analytics, no crash reporters and no trackers in the app. No account is needed and no sign-up exists.

About the stores: RuStore and Google Play count installs themselves and show me an anonymised summary — how many downloads, which Android versions. The store does that under its own policy; I see nothing about individual people.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, children under 13 included.

If this changes

A new version will appear on this page, with a new date at the top.
